Fixed Partial Dentures (FPD)

This procedure, commonly referred to as a “bridge,” is a way to replace a missing tooth with a fixed prosthesis. During this procedure the teeth on both sides of the area where the tooth is missing are prepared for a crown. The two crowns have a crown attached to them to replace the missing tooth. This is a very good method for replacing a single or multiple teeth that are close together with a prosthesis that does not come in and out of the mouth.

Bridges are used to prevent:

Shifting of the teeth that can lead to bite (occlusion) problems
Shifting of teeth that can lead to TMJ problems
Shifting of teeth that can result in periodontal problems
Problems with mastication or chewing
